Go Ahead. Make fun.

Over the last few days, I have heard nothing but teasing and taunting from my Family members. Here is why: I can NOT sit and watch tv or even just sit for a little while, without NEEDING to do something with my hands. I can sit for hours and create these gumpaste flowers that have to be cut and shaped petal by petal.

This is why I don't have a desk job. There is no way I could sit still through an entire day. Even if I spent the whole day just typing, still wouldn't satify that itch. So here are my projects from recent weeks, or days. The lovely Blue sweater with a pocket front and roll neck collar, that I knitted in about 4 days. It had a hood. I had to remove it, because it wouldn't fit over my sons head. It still doesn't and everytime I go near him holding the sweater, he runs in the other directions screaming "NO FIT" and "DON'T WANT IT". Well, Thanks little buddy, you'll have this sweater forever and I'll just make fun of you for having big head in a few years. Not the fact that I may have knit it to tight. My daughter LOVES hers and has worn it endlessly. I am now in the process of making myself one, and if I hear one more time "make sure it fits over your head", from my wonderful husband, I'm going to knit him the ugliest one I possibly can.

So after knitting, I figured I'd take a break for a few nights, and have been making these: I have always been fascinated with Oragami. I got this really cool little kit for Christmas called "Minigami". When I was younger, I did it all the time. Something about paper folding, and watching this tiny paper transform into something is cool. Most of my family members couldn't name what half of these, in my mind, OBVIOUS shapes are. I'll leave it to you reader, to make your interpretations.
This photo---> is to give you a better idea of the size of these Minigami. Please, feel free to make fun, or even venture a guess as what some of these objects apparently aren't.

This post is really just to make fun of my family, and show them how little the appreciate my freakish activities.......and allow myself to accept the fact that my hands have some kind of hyperactivity disorder. Can you tell business is a little slow at the moment? All I have on the Calendar is a cake in the shape of a barn for this weekend......
Oh, and how much am I LOVING the new Canon?! LOOK at those close up! The detail! I love it!

Very talented hands!
I do have a desk job and cannot sit still. It's a curse and I end up annoying all of my coworkers fairly often as I try to entertain and distract myself.

I am so very jealous of your crafty nature.

and I wish to GOD I didn't have to go to my 'day-job' so that I could hone- in on something crafty like.

Sitting at a desk all day is almost like being in JAIL. I cant stand it.

I think it really is slowing crushing and sucking the creativity RIGHT OUT OF ME.

Michael C: I would probably end up doing the same thing. I think it drives my husband buts. He's always asking me if I can just sit still.
Meleah: LOL!! I have a friend who's nickname for me is her "crafty friend". If only all these things combined could make me some more money! I was a business major when I first went to college and after a semester decided there was no way in hell. Hence culinary school and constant use of hands. Nothing can suck the creativity out of you. You are SO creative!!

We have a LOT in common my friend. I hate all things domestic (for a million reasons that don't matter) but I find myself doing a MILLION crafty things just to BE CREATIVE...I get bored after a couple of months though. I've gone through way too many "craft phases" I think I have ADD...

I love your sweaters and paper masterpieces. To those who mock your greatness: When the world is comming to an end and the only thing that can save humanity is a mini-oragami maker, who's gonna have the last laugh then? Huh? Huh?Take that ChefMoms family!!

I'm with you, I probably have ADD too, since I do have many unfinished projects also. And I'm Lmao ot you comment about the world coming to an end....I'll make little paper boats for everyone...HAHAHAHAHA!!

Does that make sense?

Maybe I should get back in bed now?

Meleah: you're posts never lack humor they are FAR from Flat. Even if it's a short post, you add hillarious photos to go with it. You always make me laugh, or at least think.

I love making crafts to but I do get bored and start a new one before finishing the one I'm working on..
Those flowers you made are beautiful. What do you make them from?

Miss_Moneymaker: Lol!I have MANY unfinished projects...cros stich pieces for people's wedding, (including my own, almost 10 years old now.) My Mom has one better though, she's got a table clothe that she started cross stiching when got married, 36 years ago. My sister and I now work on it with her. Sad to see it runs in the family..lol:) As for the flowers, they are made of gumpaste. It's a sweet dough, that is very pliable, but dries to an almost porcelian like texture, and almost as hard. They are edible. Each flower takes almost an hour to make, so I can charge quite bit. I can do ther flowers besides roses. Check out my cake site for other pix. Thanks for visiting me :)www.fortheloveofcakenj.com

micahel c: Ha! I know, how exciting! We could plan to wear our t-shirts the same day, that way we know we have each Coast of the Country covered for Meleah's sake! I can't wait to get a shirt!

Dang. I am so jealous. I'm a craft loser! The best I can do is a flower out of pipe cleaners.

I'm jealous of that camera too. We just got a new one, and I hate it...but, of course I can't complain because I begged my husband to buy it. I hate it when he's right.

ok, this is your loving sister making fum of your sweaters...but not the mini oragami. I got one too you know. I find it a little tough though. I'll have to come over and have you help me. and I may make fun but you know I wish I could knit like you... and where is my ugly animal?

Oh, I'm not throwing stones. When I was a kid I made my Dad a scarf that I measured around my own neck. Seeing as he's 6'3, it basically fit him like a choker.

I consider it a testament to unconditional love that he wears it to this day, zipped inside the collar of his coat to stay in place.

Momo fali: I am very sure you have many talents, and let me say that pipe cleaner flowers are impressive. I had to buy a book on how to make pipe cleaner things and still haven't quite mastered it. I had to do the same thing with balloon animals. I spent the time learning, and then proceeded to royaly make a fool of myself at my son's first b-day party. Fun times! As for the camera, I'm one of those read-the-whole-instruction-booklet. Try doing that, you might find things about the camera that you might like :)

Sister of mine: Make Fun, and I'm about to post a picture of your atrocious animal. I can help you with you minigami :)

exposed: Now that is a wonderful Dad. Still willing to wear it, even though it was a choker. At least he doesn't make fun!
